Physical Therapy

Our Doctors utilize their Physical Therapy privileges to help patients achieve decreased levels of pain, improve range of motion, and increase rates of healing. Physical therapy techniques are designed to facilitate movement, increase flexibility, release tension in the muscles, and reduce pain. There are many forms of physical therapy treatments, so a Chiropractor may use a combination of several modalities to minimize pain and reduce inflammation.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

EMS, or Electrical Muscle Stimulation, is a non-invasive, drug-free method to strengthen and rehabilitate your muscles by stimulating motor nerves to cause a muscle contraction. Contraction and relaxation of muscles have been found to effectively treat a variety of conditions. When you injure a muscle, it usually experiences little, if any, movement. Some of the benefits of EMS are facilitating the repair of muscles, tendons, and ligaments while managing and reducing pain.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound uses high-frequency acoustic vibrations to produce thermal and non-thermal effects in the body’s tissues. This type of physiotherapy increases local blood flow, cellular metabolism, tissue regeneration, and wound healing. The targeted sound waves can produce deep tissue heating for soft tissue extensibility, injury repair, reduce inflammation, and provide pain relief.

Moist Heat Therapy

The use of warmer temperatures can treat a wide range of medical conditions and improve overall health. Moist heat products are preferred for penetrating deeper into the muscle tissues and achieving a higher increase in blood flow than dry heat. Some of the benefits of moist heat include increased muscle flexibility, healing damaged tissue, calming muscle spasms, and reducing pain from stiffness.

Therapeutic Exercises

Therapeutic exercises are specific exercises meant for correcting specific problems. The exercises aim to improve, restore, and prevent loss of physical function. Depending on the matter of your medical condition, the Doctor may give you a list of exercises to perform to reduce discomfort. Additional objectives of therapeutic exercise include:

  • Releasing contracted muscles, tendons, and fascia
  • Improving coordination
  • Increasing mobility
  • Reducing rigidity
  • Improving circulation
